# Connect an Android phone

Android phones reach AeroCast through **Miracast**, using Windows' built-in receiver. This needs Wi-Fi on the PC and the Windows **Wireless Display** optional feature. AeroCast offers to install the feature the first time it starts.

1. Make sure the Wireless Display feature is installed (see [Connect a Windows PC](/docs/connect-windows)).
2. On the PC, in Windows **Settings, System, Projecting to this PC**, set the first option to **Available everywhere** (or **Available everywhere on secure networks**).
3. On the phone, swipe down for Quick Settings and tap **Cast** (some phones call it **Smart View**, **Screen Cast** or **Wireless display**).
4. Choose the entry named after your PC, ending in **(AeroCast)**.
5. Approve the connection on the PC if AeroCast is set to ask.

## Notes

- Google Cast from Android apps or Chrome does not reach AeroCast: those apps only accept devices certified by Google. Use the phone's **Cast** or **Smart View** (Miracast) instead.
- If the phone shows "Connecting" forever, restart the phone's casting once and make sure no other app is using the Windows Wireless Display window.
